Dutch Boycott Stupid
MACASSAR, Sunday. — Two
Labor members of the Queensland
Parliament, Messrs. Healy and
Turner, are returning to Australia
convinced that the boycott by some
Australian unions of Dutch ships
is the result of "a stupid misunder
standing."
Both parliamentarians who have
been visiting the Netherlands
East Indies say they have been
shocked by their observations of
the hardships being suffered by
the natives and Dutch civilians.
Mr. Turner said: "No one who
has seen how all sections in the
Celebes are trying to co-operate
in reconstruction could deny them
the necessities of life."
Mr. Healy said it was regrettable
misunderstandings and the activi
ties of a noisy minority in Aus-
tralia had led to prolonging
the suffering of the people they
are supposed to help.
